Follows is our latest program and itinerary, updated as of June 20th, 2008. Given the nature of our program and our destination, we can expect this to be dynamic "at the margins" but its core should remain unchanged. I will keep you posted on any revisions. o 10am-11am: Guided Tour of Hassan II Mosque
o 11:15am-12:15pm: Tour Jewish Museum
o 12:30-3:30pm: Minibus to Marrakesh (lunch en route)

o 4-5pm: Check-in at Riad, Traditional Mint Tea Welcome, Orientation
o 5-7:30pm: Medina tour #1: the “Mellah” (Jewish Quarter) and tour its markets for flowers, vegetable, fish, and meat; the medina “recycling section” where tires are used to make handicraft items and furniture; visit Palace restaurant from Hitchcock film classic, “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (Doris Day & Jimmy Stewart); conclude at Djemaa el Fna.
o Dinner at Djemaa el Fna (Restaurant Toubkal)
July 30
o 7-8am: Breakfast at Riad, distribution of maps/materials
o 8:30am – 1pm: Medina tour #2: Dar Si Said Museum; Weavers; Main Souq; Women’s Souq; Dyers souq; Medersa Ben Youssef; Koubba Almoravide; tea break at Musée de Marrakesh; Carpet Souq; Rabha Kedima (old market place)
o 1:30-2:30pm: Lunch at Jama Family Garden
o 2:30-4pm: Siesta/free time; afternoon tea
o 4-5pm: “Traditional Moroccan Fashion Photo Shoot”…starring You!
o 5-6:30pm: Discussion: “Introduction to Sufism and Brotherhoods in Morocco”
o 7-8pm: Observance of a Sufi samaa (listening) and dhikr (recitation) ritual followed by dinner
July 31
o 7-8am: Breakfast at Riad
o 9-11am: Tour of Jardin Majorelle
o 11-Noon: Return to Riad/independent time
o 12:30pm-1:30pm: Lunch at Riad
o 1:30-3pm: Siesta/free time, afternoon tea
o 3-5pm: Independent Touring/Shopping: (a) History/Architecture: Bahia Palace; El Badi Palace; Saadien Tombs or (b) Traditional Handicrafts/Design: Maison Tiskiwin (near Arabesca) and Ensemble Artisanale (located across from the Cyber Park Moulay Abdeslam, close to the Koutoubia Mosque)
o 6-7:30pm: Discussion on Berber-Sahara Culture (Mohamed Soudani)
o 8pm: Walk to Hotel Ali (“the old hippie hotel”) for a traditional dinner buffet/Djemaa el Fna

o 9-10am: Independent medina time, final shopping, etc.
o 10:15am: Depart for train station

o 9-Noon: Medina guided tour (Medersa Bou Inania, The tanneries, various souqs, Kairaouine Mosque)
o 12:30-1:30pm: Lunch in the medina
o 1:30-4pm: Siesta/Free Time/medina amble
o 5-6:30pm: Informal Roundtable with Fassi high school teachers
o Dinner at Restaurant Kasbah (Bab Bou Jeloud)
August 3
o 8-9am: Breakfast at hotel/check-out
o 9am-Noon: Part II medina guided tour (Dar Batha, Merenid Tombs, Mellah/Fes el Jadid)
o Lunch in Ville Nouvelle
o 2-3:30pm: Tea with a notable Fassi celebrity/leader(s) (e.g. cultural preservationist, artisan, feminist, religious figure, etc.) at SACAL-Fez
o 3:30-5pm: Informal Roundtable with Fassi high school students at SACAL-Fez
o 5pm: Home-stay orientations then proceed to medina home-stays by minibus
o Afternoon/Evening: Tea, dinner, overnight with Home-stay families
August 4
o 8am: Home-stay breakfasts
o “Day in the Life of a Fassi Family”
o 11am – 1pm: Cooking Class with each respective home-stay family
o Afternoon with home-stay family or independent touring
o 4-6pm: Andalusian Musical Ensemble / Tea / Henna for Female Teachers OR Attend local cultural event/concert
o Dinner: Return to home-stays for farewell dinner, overnight
August 5
o 8-9am: Homestay Breakfasts/Farewell
o 10am: Departure by private minivan to Chefchaouen; lunch en route
