Wet Sands of the Sahara
Our time in the desert was spectacular nad surreal, a landscape unlike any that I have seen. Our travel day was a long one, nine am CTM bus the Ourzezette, then a grand taxi to Mo'hamid. The grand taxi ride was beautiful, through an oasis valley of date palms and wheat fields flanked by two mountain ranges. We had to stop at one point so that our driver could pray and buy a goat's head for his wife, it was couscous friday after all. We eventually made it to our hotel around 8:30 at night, glad to see some beds and food. It was a beautiful night though, a bright full moon and surprisingly cold.
After breakfast and last minute packing for our two day excursion into the desert, we met our camel drivers and their dromadears outside the our kasbah hotel. At first they sugested that three of us ride and the other two walk, to which Dana and Kempie quickly refuesed. In retro spect they were giving us good advice because the camel is a very uncomfortable steed, but at Global LAB expeirance matters.
The beginning of the trek was great, the scenery was amazing, windswept flat lands that abrutly ended with the Atlas mountains in the distance. but after hours of bouncing up and down, I began to understand why our guides walked. I have run out of time at the Internet Café, I will continue this blog tomarrow.
